Uber offers 6-seater vehicles

MANILA – Ride-sharing app Uber on Tuesday announced it was rolling out an option that lets users book vehicles that can carry up to six passengers.

Starting Friday, May 12, users can request an AUV through UberXL, which would be cheaper than booking two UberX cars that can only seat up to four, according to a press release from Uber.

Uber said the option will be available to all its users in the Philippines by Saturday next week.

Ride-sharing services like Uber and its competitor, Grab, are popular in the Philippines at a time when traffic congestion in metro cities have become a daily misery.

The traffic situation in Metro Manila, home to roughly one-tenth of the country’s 100 million people, causes up to 2.4 billion in losses to the economy every day, according to a Japanese study.
